Preamble
Many decades ago, in the glow of my youth
I was trekking in the mountains of Nepal near Tamur Koshi at Mulghat
On my way to Dhankuta
I happened upon a guru and his followers
I asked if they had anything I could eat
“Indeed” the guru said
“Rice grains, vegetables and fruit
but no meat.”
“Why no meat?” I asked.
He said, “When we die we reincarnate
Often as an animal.
You see that chicken?”
“Yes”, I said.
“That chicken could be your dearly departed Mother
Reborn as a hen
Do you really want to eat your mother?”
VERSE
Don’t Eat Your Mother when you’re hungry inside
Don’t trade your mother for another
Your Daddy might get lonely then what would he do?
Don’t Eat Your Mother
Don’t Eat Your Mother
Don’t sell your doggies to the doggie zoo
Don’t sell your doggies cause they love you
Your doggies would get lonely then what would you do?
Don’t eat your Mom
It’s not a nice thing to do
And don’t let your doggies get blue
Everyone is lonely now what will we do?
